BETHESDA, Md. -
Comcast SportsNet, the leader in local sports television, travels to College Park on Saturday, Oct. 21, for
the final installment of the network's "SportsNite on Campus" series, which
airs in its entirety during the network's nightly news program at 10 p.m.
The University of Maryland football team plays host to North Carolina State
at 12 p.m. and Comcast SportsNet will be on campus to bring viewers inside
the Terrapins' football program leading up to, during, and after the game.
"SportsNite on Campus" will give fans a look into the program's traditions
and exclusive interviews with high profile alumni and members of the
athletic community.
The Comcast SportsNet SportsNite crew will be set up on the concourse of
Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium. University of Maryland alum and
Comcast SportsNet reporter Chick Hernandez will be on site with interviews
before and after the game. Members of the Terrapins' community stopping by
the set include Vernon Davis, former Terps All-America tight end and San
Francisco 49ers first round draft choice, and Maryland Athletic Director
Debbie Yow. Maryland Head Coach Ralph Friedgen; Tim Strachan, a Maryland
sideline reporter with a remarkable story; Johnny Holiday, the voice of the
Terps, and many others will also be interviewed as part of the "SportsNite
on Campus" feature.
Comcast SportsNet will also be on the sidelines during the Terrapins
practice, focusing on assistant coach Dave Sollazzo. Along with the
interviews, the network will explore the school's tailgating traditions,
Terp Alley, Super Fan Special K, the campus' history and feature Maryland
standout defensive back, Josh Wilson, whose late father Tim also played for
the Terrapins. The Comcast SportsNet marketing and camera crew will also
roam around campus interviewing students and other members of the Terrapins
faithful.
Comcast SportsNet currently consists of four regional sports networks
servicing the Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Chicago, and Northern and
Central California television markets. In addition, Comcast SportsNet
manages SportsNet New York, which serves the greater New York region.
Together, the five networks reach over 22 million households providing local
sports coverage to each respective market, including live game action for
the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, and Chicago Blackhawks;
the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, and
Sacramento Kings; and MLB's Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles,
Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, and New York Mets.
