Trotter Fires 69 on Saturday

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Katie Trotter of the University of Maryland fired a 69 on Saturday to climb into third place individually at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate women's golf tournament being hosted by East Carolina University.
Trotter has a 36-hole total of even-par 144, just one shot behind Patti Hogeboom of Augusta State and Ashley Mylton of UNC Greensboro. Kelly MacWhinnie, who shot Maryland's best round Friday with a 73, was tied for sixth individually at 146 after a second straight 73, while Kelly Calkin was tied for 18th at 149 after a 75 on Saturday.
As a team, Maryland was tied for third place at 593, following a second-round 296. Augusta State held the lead at 587, with Birmingham Southern in second at 591. Maryland was tied with UCF for third place, two strokes ahead of both Elon and East Tennessee State.
Also for Maryland, Jessica Reno was tied for 54th at 154, while Katie Stepanek was tied for 66th at 157.
The final round will start on Sunday at 8 a.m.
