Dec. 18, 2006

Maryland graduate Liz Lavell (Annapolis, Md.) competed at the 15th annual Kerr-McGee Elite Pro-Am held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the Olympic Festival Pool. The meet ran from Thursday, December 14th through Sunday, December 17th.

On Thursday night Lavell finished fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:55.12) behind 2004 Olympian Rachael Komisarz (9:40.54). In the second day of competition, Lavell raced the 400 individual medley stopping the clock at 4:19.34 for a second-place finish.

Lavell ended the weekend strong on Saturday and Sunday with fourth-place finishes in both the 200 IM (2:03.50) and 100 IM (58.33). The meet provided Lavell with a great opportunity to swim against top competition. Lavell has already qualified and is preparing for the 2008 Olympic Trials to be held in Omaha, Nebraska.
