* Maryland is playing Purdue tonight in the 2006 Champs Sports Bowl, marking the 4th bowl game in the six-year coaching reign of Head Coach Ralph Friedgen. Friedgen is now 3-1 in those four bowl games.

* Tonight, Friedgen became the first Maryland head coach to have three bowl victories (Bobby Ross 2-2, Jerry Claiborne 2-5, Jim Tatum 2-2-1, Joe Krivak 0-0-1).

* Maryland is now 9-10-2 after making its 21st bowl appearance overall.

* Maryland finished its season 9-4, marking the 13th time in 114 years of football the Terrapins have won at least nine games in a season. Four of those seasons have come during Ralph Friedgen's time as head coach.

* Maryland now has a three-game winning streak in bowl games for the first time in school history. The previous two wins came over Tennessee 30-3 on 12/31/02 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and over West Virginia 41-7 on 1/1/04 in the Toyota Gator Bowl.

* Maryland is 2-0 so far in bowl appearances against Big Ten Conference opponents. The Terrapins defeated Minnesota 17-7 in the Hall of Fame Bowl on 12/22/1977.

* Hollenbach now has 28 passing touchdowns in his career, moving past Neil O'Donnell (1987-89) into sole possession of 4th place on the all-time list. Tonight was the 5th time this season Hollenbach had at least two TD passes in a game.

* Hollenbach became the 4th Terrapin to pass for more than 5,000 yards in his career. He finishes his career (417-for-679, 5139 yards, 28 touchdowns).

* Maryland scored first for the 8th time in 13 games this season. The Terrapins are now 7-1 in games when they dent the scoreboard first.

* Maryland scored first for the 12th time in 21 bowl games and now has a 6-4-2 record in bowl games in which it scores first.

* Late in the first quarter, true freshman FB Cory Jackson had his first carry of the season with a 5-yard gain. Jackson scored his first career TD on his 2nd career carry with a 1-yard plunge early in the second quarter. He became the 4th different Terrapin with a rushing TD this season and the 13th different Terrapin to score in 2006.

* On Purdue's first possession of the second quarter, both Barrod Heggs and Carlos Feliciano picked up their first career sack.

* DB Anthony Wiseman saw his first action of the season tonight.

* Hollenbach's 46-yard scoring pass to Darrius Heyward-Bey marked the 5th time this year that combination has clicked for a touchdown. The speedy Heyward-Bey, a Sporting News freshman All-American, has averaged 46.8 yards per touchdown catch this season, including TD catches of 65 and a school-record 96 yards against Miami.

* In the last three bowl games, Maryland has outscored its opponents in the first half by a combined 62-10 (21-7 vs. Purdue at halftime in 2006 Champs Sports Bowl, 24-0 at halftime vs. West Virginia in 2004 Gator, 17-3 at halftime vs. Tennessee in 2002 Peach).

* Maryland has now outscored its last three bowl opponents by a combined 95-17.

* Maryland's 236 yards in total offense were the most in a first half this season (previous high was 215 vs. Wake Forest, 11/25).

* Maryland finished with 429 yards in total offense tonight, the most in any game this season. The last time Maryland gained 400 yards in total offense in a game was 11/12/2005 when it had 524 at North Carolina.

* Maryland led at halftime for the 9th time in 13 games this season. The Terps are 8-1 in those games. The Terrapins are 8-2-1 in postseason games in which they have led at halftime.

* PK Dan Ennis hit his 13th straight field goal of the season with a 22-yarder to make the score 24-7 with 6:44 left in the third quarter. He is now 20-for-25 this season, placing him 5th on the list of single-season FG accuracy at Maryland (Nick Novak, .857, 24-for-28, 2002, is 1st).

* The Terrapins and Boilermakers drew a Champs Sports Bowl-record crowd of 40,168 tonight.

* Maryland is now 4-1 when Keon Lattimore and Lance Ball each rush for more than 50 yards.

* Hollenbach's 223 yards passing rank T4th with Stan Gelbaugh (1985 Cherry Bowl vs. Syracuse) on the single-game list in bowl games.
