COLLEGE PARK, Md. - For the second-straight year and 10th time overall, Maryland field hockey head coach Missy Meharg was selected the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. With the honor, her name moves onto the national coach of the year ballot.
Meharg guided the Terps to another successful season, winning the NCAA crown for the second consecutive year, the first time the team has posted back-to-back titles. Maryland captured a share of the regular-season ACC title and was the top-ranked team in the conference tournament, advancing to the championship game.
Meharg's Terps garnered five All-ACC nods, eight all-region citations and five were selected All-American. Senior Paula Infante (Santiago, Chile) was the conference's Defensive Player of the Year and was a Honda Award finalist for the third straight year. Freshman Nicole Muracco (Sewell, N.J.) was the ACC's Rookie of the Year.
Maryland was 23-2 this year en route to winning the national crown, the sixth 20-win season in the history of the program. Meharg is the program's all-time winningest coach with 327 victories.
