COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Applications for spots in Janice Kruger's Maryland Volleyball Camps are available now. The camps offered are four levels for players with varying experience and are taught by the University of Maryland coaching staff, current players and other collegiate staff. This year marks the 19th summer the camps have been conducted.
Commuter, overnight and one-day camps will be offered during July and August and are open to girls in grades 7-12. Overnight campers stay in the dorms of the University of Maryland in College Park. The camps are a one-day Serving Clinic, Total Player Camp, High Performance Specialty Camp, and Play Hard Team Camp.
The Serving Clinic on July 15 is a one-day instruction on serving, passing and volleyball fundamentals.
From July 16-19, the Total Player Camp features skill training, match-play and intensive drills to improve offense and defense.
The High Performance Specialty Camp, from July 29-August 1, will include team competition to fine-tune proper attack technique and method, improve footwork and agility, as well as overall mechanics for setters and hitters.
The Play Hard Team Camp is designed to improve team play and will focus on drills and competitive games. Teams must have a minimum of nine players per team for this camp.
With the exception of the one-day Serving Clinic, all camps offered have overnight and commuter rates.
