The University of Maryland women's water polo team held opponent Bucknell to only five goals, but couldn't convert enough scoring opportunities to defeat the Bison. The Terps fell 5-3 at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium Friday evening.
Coach Carl Salyer remarked "We did exactly what we wanted to do defensively with Bucknell, but came up weak on the offensive end."
The Terps scored three goals on 21 shots. Goal scorers were Elizabeth Hopkins, Blaise Stanicic, and Christen Vagts.
Ashleigh Jobson started the game in goal, blocking four and allowing five goals scored against. Marissa Corwin blocked seven in the third quarter.
The Terps and Bison previously faced each other February 12 at the Terrapin Invitational, when the Bison defeated the Terps 9-6.
Maryland's record is currently 9-4. The Terrapins will face No. 16 Princeton at noon on Saturday.
