MacWhinnie Leads Terps at UNCW Golf

WALLACE, N.C. - Kelly MacWhinnie shot a 78 on Tuesday to lead University of Maryland golfers to a sixth-place finish as a team at the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational women's golf tournament.
MacWhinnie finished with a 54-hole total of 229, tying for 14th place in the individual standings. Kelly Calkin tied for 17th at 231, with Jessica Reno placing 19th at 232.
Also for Maryland, Katie Trotter tied for 24th at 234, with Katie Stepanek in a tie for 27th at 235.
As a team, the Terrapin had a 318 total in Tuesday's final round. Maryland finished sixth in the 13-team field with a 921 total. Kentucky rallied to shoot 295 on Tuesday to earn the team title with a 906 total. The Wildcats' team round was 11 shots better than any other team in the field.
Michelle Jarman of UNC Wilmington won the individual title, finishing at 2-over-par 218. She won by two shots over Beth Felts of Kentucky and Ashley Barton of East Tennessee State.
Maryland is off until playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference women's tournament in mid-April.
