POSITION TITLE: Head Coach - Women's Competitive Cheerleading
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Non-tenured Faculty, Contract - 12 months (111568)
UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $47 million in the context of a distinguished academic University which is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and a beautiful campus located 8 miles north of the nation's capital and 30 miles south of Baltimore. The women's competitive cheerleading team, formed in the summer of 2003, is the first varsity collegiate program in the country and captured the 2006 National Cheerleading Association all-female Division I national championship. The women's program is fully scholarshipped (12.0 scholarships). The program has one full-time assistant coaching position.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Organize and direct all aspects of a highly competitive, Division I Women's Competitive Cheerleading program. Specific responsibilities include identifying and recruiting athletically and academically qualified student-athletes; developing the team's competition routine; scheduling and conducting practice sessions and regular season contests; developing, implementing, and enforcing team rules; overseeing the administrative process for team travel, budget, student-athlete eligibility and academic progress; partici
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Must have at least 3-5 years of demonstrated successful coaching experience in collegiate competitive cheerleading, preferably at the Division I collegiate level. Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Must be safety certified by AACCA. Strong communication and organizational skills.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
