
Maryland Sports Marketing Earns Best in Show Honor

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland Sports Marketing Department earned four awards for excellence during the recent National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Conference in New Orleans, including a prestigious "Best In Show" Award.
"It is extremely gratifying to be recognized by our peers for excellence in Marketing," said Brian Ullmann, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Marketing. "We made great strides in our marketing efforts in 2005-06 towards our goal of becoming the premier marketing unit in the nation."
Maryland earned the 2006 Gold Winner and "Best In Show" award for Best Student Promotion, honoring the Student Spirit Book program. The Spirit Book was developed as part of the "27 Sports, 1 Team" brand campaign to help promote student attendance at Maryland's 27 varsity sports. The program was named one of the Top Five collegiate sports marketing ideas of the year.
Other awards included a Silver Winner for Promotional T-Shirt Design, earned for a limited-edition t-shirt exclusive for Maryland's 700 student-athletes, and a Silver Winner for Best Ticket Sales Piece, earned for a Men's and Women's Soccer brochure that featured several innovative group programs.
