POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Associate Director for Media Relations (Men's Basketball)
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Full-time, Exempt (100131)
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Director for Media Relations will be responsible to serve as the key media relations contact for men's basketball. This team player will coordinate the publications for men's basketball, including writing, compiling and editing media guides, with a specific focus on accuracy and timeliness; prepare game notes and press releases to ensure effective coverage and proper NCAA and ACC reporting; respond to and manage media requests for information, interviews, news conferences and photo sessions; provide event and game-day management functions for men's basketball. In addition, this individual will maintain and update the Athletic Department website. Position will also handle other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director - Media Relations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in journalism, athletics administration, public relations or similar fields. Must have 3-5 years of athletics media relations experience at the collegiate or professional level. Must have demonstrated outstanding proficiency in desktop publishing software, Adobe PhotoShop, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer on either Macintosh or Windows platforms or both. Familiarity with Stat Crew Systems software required. Outstanding written and oral communications ability, editing ability and knowledge of AP style. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks and perform in a positive manner in a deadline-oriented and high-pressure environment. Travel and weekend hours will be required.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
