RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Katie Trotter fired a 74 on Tuesday to lead the University of Maryland to the team victory at the Spider Invitational women's golf tournament hosted by the University of Richmond.
Trotter's 74 gave her a 146 total for the 36-hole event and earned her second place individually. All five Maryland players shot 78 or better in Tuesday's final round as the Terrapins had the lowest team round in the field for the second straight day.
Maryland shot 302 on Tuesday to finish with a 603 total. The Terrapins won the team competition by eight shots over Columbia and finished 20 shots ahead of third-place Marshall. Maryland came into the second round with a six-stroke lead over Marshall.
Kelly Calkin carded a 76 and tied for fourth at 150. Carla Wasienko, who was playing individually, also tied for fourth at 150. Lara Peffley had a 77 on Tuesday for a 153 total, as the Terrapins placed three scorers and four players overall in the top 10.
Hilary Lawson tied for 12th after her 75 brought her in at 155, while Kerri Connolly tied for 21st with a 157 total.
Stevy Loy of Columbia earned the individual victory with a 144 total.
Maryland finishes the fall portion of its schedule on Oct. 29 and 30 at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament at Kiawah Island, S.C.
