Terps Lead in Richmond After First Day

RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Maryland held the lead in the team standings and Carla Wasienko was tied for the individual lead after Monday's opening round of the Spider Invitational women's golf tournament being hosted by the University of Richmond.
The Terrapins scored a 301 team total in Monday's first round, leading the team standings by six strokes over marshall and by seven over Longwood and Columbia.
Wasienko was playing as an individual in the tournament but toured the course in a 2-under-par 70 to tie Stevy Loy of Columbia for the first-round lead. Wasienko shot a 34 on the back nine en route to her best round as a Terp.
Senior Katie Trotter had a 72 to lead the Terps who were in the lineup on Monday, turning the back in 35 and ending up in third place individually. Kelly Calkin was tied for fifth at 74 and Lara Peffley was 10th after opening with a 76.
Kerri Connolly was tied for 23rd at 79, with Hilary Lawson opening at 80 and a tie for 29th.
The final round of the Spider Invitational hit the links on Tuesday morning.
