Terps Bowl Eligible: With the 37-0 win over NC State, Maryland is now bowl eligible for the fifth time in seven seasons under coach Ralph Friedgen. The Terps have won each of their last three bowl games, a school record.

Maryland Shuts Out NC State: Maryland's 37-0 shutout of NC State marked the first time the Terps had blanked an opponent since they topped The Citadel, 61-0, on Sept. 3, 2003. It was Maryland's first shutout of an ACC opponent since it defeated Wake Forest, 52-0, on Oct. 19, 1996. The last time Maryland blanked an opponent on the road was on Oct. 17, 1999, when it downed Temple, 6-0. The Terps' last shutout of an ACC foe on the road was a 14-0 win over Wake Forest on Oct. 17, 1987. The loss ended the Wolfpack's streak of 150 consecutive games without a shutout, dating back to Sept. 25, 1995, when Baylor beat NC State, 14-0, at Carter-Finley Stadium. It was the ACC's longest active streak and the fourth-longest streak in ACC history.

Largest Margin of Victory: The 37-0 victory gave the Terps their largest margin of victory since defeating North Carolina, 59-21, on Nov. 1, 2003.

Turner on the Mark: For the second time in three games, Chris Turner completed nearly 80 percent of his passes. Turner, who entered the game third in the ACC in passing efficiency, connected on 19 of his 24 attempts (79.2 percent) against NC State, and his completion percentage ranks seventh on the school's all-time single-game list. Turner completed 77.8 percent of his passes in the upset of No. 8 Boston College, a number which is now tied for ninth on the single-season list.

Defense Clamps Down: The Terps surrendered just 10 net rushing yards (on 16 carries) to NC State, which was the lowest output by an opponent since Clemson rushed for 10 yards (on 29 carries) on Oct. 4, 2003. It was the third time this season the Maryland defense surrendered fewer than 50 yards on the ground (11 vs. Villanova; 45 vs. Boston College). The Wolfpack tallied just 250 yards of total offense, which was lowest output for a Maryland ACC foe since NC State had just 186 in the 2005 regular-season finale. Despite the low offensive output, the Wolfpack won that game, 20-14, to become bowl eligible. The defense also allowed the Wolfpack to convert just one of 13 third-down attempts Saturday. Over the last two games, the Maryland defense has surrendered a first down on only 3 of 25 (12 percent) third down opportunities.

Philistin's First Pick: Middle linebacker Dave Philistin recorded his first career interception in the first quarter and returned it 43 yards to set up Obi Egekeze's 30-yard field goal and Maryland's first points of the game. Philistin currently owns a streak of eight consecutive games with double-digit tackles, including a game-high 10 against NC State.

Terp Runners Score Big: Maryland running backs Keon Lattimore and Lance Ball have become quite familiar with the end zone this season. The seniors have scored a combined 25 touchdowns on the year (Lattimore 13; Ball 12). Lattimore's 13 rushing scores rank tied for sixth on the school's single-season list, while his 19 career rushing TDs are tied for ninth all-time. Ball's 12 rushing TDs are tied for eighth on the Maryland single-season chart, while his 26 career rushing scores are tied for fourth in school history. LaMont Jordan (1999) owns the Maryland single-season record (16) and Rick Badanjek (1982-85) has the career mark (44).

Scott Shines Down the Stretch: Redshirt freshman running back Da'Rel Scott chipped in with a career-high 89 yards on eight carries (11.1 ypc), including a career-long 33-yarder which set up the Terps' third touchdown of the day, a Lance Ball 2-yard plunge in the second quarter. Scott also posted a team-best 125 all-purpose yards and has averaged 133.3 all-purpose yards over the last three games.

Ball Moves Up Rushing Chart: Lance Ball had 78 rushing yards and jumped from sixth to fourth place on Maryland's career rushing list, passing Rick Badanjek (1982-85) and Bruce Perry (1999, 2001-03) in the process. Ball now has 2,482 rushing yards for his career.

Williams Stretches the Field: Junior wide receiver Isaiah Williams has averaged 22.6 yards per reception in Maryland's last three games (eight catches for 181 yards). Williams had a 38-yard catch in the second quarter against NC State, which set up the Terps' second touchdown.

Terps Jump Out to Huge Halftime Lead: Maryland's 24 first-half points marked the most points the Terps had scored in a half since tallying 28 in the second half against Virginia in a 28-26 comeback win last season. It was also the first time the Terrapins had shut out a team in the first half since owning a 28-0 advantage vs. Temple (Sept. 11, 2004).

Turner Tucks and Runs: Sophomore Chris Turner's 41-yard run in the second quarter was the longest of his career and Maryland's third longest run of the year.

Starting Streaks Continue: Several Terps extended starting streaks in the game. Safety Christian Varner has started a team-high 34 straight games and 35 of the past 36 games. LEO Trey Covington has started 33 of the past 34 games. Varner, along with guard Andrew Crummey have started a team-high 35 games overall, and Crummey returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a fractured leg in the win over Georgia Tech (Oct. 6).
