Balogun Named To All-ACC Freshman Team

Nov. 6, 2007

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Goalkeeper Yewande Balogun of the University of Maryland women's soccer team was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team that was released by the conference office today.

Balogun, a native of Bowie, Md., finished the season sixth in the conference with a 0.84 goal against average. She was also third in the league in saves per game (4.13), fifth in total saves (62) and tied for fourth with five shutouts.

Balogun started the first 15 matches for the Terps this season before suffering a broken bone in her foot at Virginia on October 25. On September 30, she became the first Maryland goalkeeper to earn a point since 1998 when she assisted on Kaila Sciascia's second goal in a 2-0 win over Lehigh.

Balogun's selection marks the seventh time a Maryland women's soccer player has been named to the All-ACC Freshman Team.
