Terps Hold Lead at USF Golf Tourney

BRADENTON, Fla. - Led by senior Kelly MacWhinnie, the University of Maryland holds the lead in the team standings after Monday's play in the Waterlefe/USF Invitational women's golf tournament being hosted by the University of South Florida.
Maryland grabbed a two-stroke lead over Princeton after the first round and extended the edge to seven strokes after firing a team total of 303 in Monday's second round. The Terrapins have a 36-hole total of 616 heading into Tuesday's final round and lead Princeton, which is second at 623 and Coastal Carolina, which is third at 624.
MacWhinnie is one of three Terrapins currently among the top 10 individually in the tournament. She had rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 total and fifth place. Katie Trotter is tied for sixth at 152 after matching rounds of 76, while Kelly Calkin is tied for 10th at 155 after leading Maryland with a 74 in the day's final round.
Also for Maryland, Kate Stepanek is tied for 15th at 158 after rounds of 81 and 77, while Jessica Reno is tied for 24th at 161.
Individually, Araceli Felgueroso of Coastal Carolina leads after 36 holes at even-par 144. Lene Krog of East Carolina is second at 145, with Susannah Aboff of Princeton in third at 149.
The tournament is being played at the Waterlefe Golf and River Club.
