COLLEGE PARK, Md.- University of Maryland sophomore Elizabeth Hopkins has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Player of the Week for the week of March 26. Hopkins was a consistent offensive threat for the Terps last week, scoring in all but the first of their eight games in California.
By the end of the eight-day, eight-game spring trip, Hopkins had amassed 15 goals. Her four goals against CSU Monterey Bay propelled Maryland to an 11-8 win, and a hat trick against Sonoma State contributed to the Terps' 15-8 victory. Notably, Hopkins also netted two against both No. 1 Stanford and No. 14 Santa Clara, as well as connecting once against No. 7 UC Davis.
Hopkins is the second Terrapin to be awarded the Player of the Week honor, preceded by junior goalie Anna Gossett for the week of February 26.
