Trotter Rallies for Top-20 Finish

PINEHURST, N.C. - Katie Trotter shot a 77 on Tuesday to finish as the top University of Maryland finisher at the Pinehurst Challenge women's golf tournament hosted by the College of Charleston.
The event was held at the par-72 Pinehurst No. 8 Course.
Trotter tied for 16th overall with a 155 total to lead the Terps. As a team, Maryland fired a 317 in the second and final round of the event to finish 10th in the team standings with a 638 total.
Also for Maryland, Kelly Calkin finished at 162 to tie for 45th, Jessica Reno tied for 49th with a 163 total, Kate Stepanek shot a 78 on Tuesday to tie for 59th at 164 and Kelly MacWhinnie tied for 72nd at 167.
East Carolina won a playoff to earn the team championship, shooting 305 on Tuesday for a 613 total. NC State placed second with the same total after rallying with a 301 team score. Host College of Charleston was third at 619.
Individually, Sara Wikstrom of Arkansas-Little Rock and Lene Krog of East Carolina tied for medalist honors. They were tied for second individually after Monday's opening round, and each shot a 74 for a 149 total. First-round leader Ashley Lambert finished in a tie for 19th.
Maryland plays next in the USF/Waterleft Invitational on March 19 and 20.
