Gymnatics, Men's Tennis Earn Team GPA Awards

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The gymnastics and men's tennis teams earned the President's Cup Team GPA Awards for the highest cumulative average over the past two semesters on Sunday at the 11th annual President's Cup Brunch at the Riggs Alumni Center.
The event was co-sponsored by the M Club and the Terrapin Club.
University President Dr. C.D. Mote Jr. was on hand to present the team GPA awards. Gymnastics won for the third straight year and the seventh time in the 11-year history of the award. The gymnastics team posted a GPA of 3.42 for the past two semesters. The men's tennis team won for the second time in the past three years, earning a collective 2.99 grade-point average.
The national champion competitive cheer squad and the football team earned team honors in the CHAMPS/Lifeskills Cup program. That award symbolizes the five categories emphasized by the program - academic excellence, athletic excellence, career development, personal development and community service.
