COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Competition at Franklin Field in Philadelphia concluded Saturday evening, wrapping up the 2007 Penn Relays. University of Maryland track and field had several individual standouts in the final day of events.
The Terrapins' 4x400 relay team on the men's side highlighted Maryland's performances Saturday. Junior Earl Gray, freshman Jeremy Samuels, sophomore Kyle Rauser, and junior Sean Lowe took third in the IC4A section of the relay event. The squad finished with an IC4A-qualifying time of 3:11.74.
After placing second in his heat for the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles on Friday, junior Dominic Berger finished eighth in the championship for the event. Berger ran an NCAA Regional-qualifying time of 14.05.
The women's 4x800 relay team of sophomore Melissa Mark, freshman Christina Nelson, sophomore Libby Babcock, and freshman Erin Matyus ran an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:09.36. This was the first time Maryland ran the relay this outdoor season, and the squad finished in 14th place.
Maryland is now set to travel to Fairfax, Va. next weekend for the Geroge Mason Invitational running all day May 5.
