COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Four members of the 2007 Maryland softball team were selected to last season's All-ACC Academic team, as announced by the ACC on Friday. Only three ACC schools had more players selected.
Amber Jackson, Lindsay Klein, Meredith Nelles, and Lindsey Ubrun were all honored by the conference. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
Jackson and Klein led the Terps offensively with a combined 31 homers and 103 RBIs. Jackson, a graduate student in human development, led the nation in home runs per game, and was a first team All-ACC selection. Klein, a senior marketing major, set Maryland career records in RBIs and doubles.
Nelles started nearly every game for the Terps down the stretch. The sophomore is majoring in elementary education. She won 19 games last season for the Terps, third most all-time.
Ubrun, a sophomore secondary education major, recorded five home runs and 13 RBIs last season for the Terps.
Nelles and Ubrun were both repeat all-academic selections for the Terrapins.
