Dave Diehl, the M Club Executive Director, won the championship in the 50-yard backstroke event in the 65-69 age group at the recent National Senior Games (the Senior Olympics) last month in Louisville, Ky.
With over 12,000 senior athletes competing in 21 sports, the National Senior Games are held every other year at varying venues throughout the country. The athletes must qualify at one of the state meets in order to compete at Nationals.
Other former Terp swimmers that competed in the meet, in addition to Diehl, were Dave Dodge (60-64 age group) who won the 200-yard IM, Doug Springer (60-64) who won the 50, 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes and 100-yard IM, and Neil Salkind (60-64).
