COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Katie Trotter of the University of Maryland was honored Monday by the National Golf Coaches Association as a member of the NCAA Division I All-American Scholar Team.
The criteria for selection to the team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. Student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's regularly-scheduled rounds.
Trotter, who will be a Terrapin senior in the fall, tied for third on the team with a 78.1 scoring average during the 2006-07 season. She had four top-20 finishes in her 12 starts for Maryland, which made its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament last spring.
A total of 368 student-athletes were honored by the NGCA across the three divisions of the NCAA. The NGCA represents more than 400 women's golf coaches throughout the nation.
