COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland women's golf team placed 37th out of 500 colleges and universities nationally in a ranking of schools based on the best overall opportunity afforded to student-athletes, according to Golf Digest.
Golf Digest ranked all college golf programs at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels in five areas: team adjusted scoring average, individual player growth and development, academic ranking by U.S. News & World Report, climate as measured by the number of playable days between Sept. 1 and May 31, as well as facilities and coaches.
"This reflects one of the most important goals we have in our program, which is to blend athletics and academics for our student-athletes," said Maryland head coach Jason Rodenhaver. "We send a strong message to all our recruits that becoming a Terrapin student-athlete means they can improve as a player, excel as a student and mature as a person."
