Postgame Notes

Top 5 Crowd: Thursday's attendance of 53,107 was the fifth largest all-time at Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium. Four of the top 14 crowds at Byrd Stadium have watched Maryland play West Virginia, including the last three times the Mountaineers have visited College Park. (2007, 2005, and 2003).

Terps at home: Maryland had won six of its last seven at home prior to Thursday's defeat. The Terps are 31-9 at Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium in Friedgen's six-plus seasons. Friedgen has directed the Terps to two undefeated home seasons (7-0 in 2001; 6-0 in 2003).

Dependable Darrius: Sophomore wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey has caught a pass in each of the Terps' last 15 games, the longest active streak on the team.

Lattimore Rolling: With 80 yards rushing in the game, running back Keon Lattimore now needs 105 to reach 1,000 in his career. He has six touchdowns on the season, which doubles his season total from each of the last two seasons (three).

In his last four games, stretching back to last season, Lattimore has rushed for 501 yards (119 vs. Wake Forest, 85 vs. Purdue, 106 vs. Villanova, 111 vs. FIU, and 80 vs. WVU).

Starting streaks continue: Several Terps extended starting streaks in the game. Safety Christian Varner has started a Terrapin-high 25 straight games and 26 of the past 27 games. LEO Trey Covington has started 24 of the past 25 games, and Andrew Crummey has started 26 of the past 27. Crummey has now started 31 games in his Maryland career, a high among current players.

Hard-Hitting Henderson: Linebacker Erin Henderson once again led the team with 11 tackles. It was his seventh career game with double-digit stops, and the eighth time he has led the team in tackles. Henderson is the active career leader in tackles with 146.

First Time for Steffy: When quarterback Jordan Steffy hooked up with wide out Danny Oquendo in the fourth quarter for a 22-yard touchdown, it marked the first touchdown of Steffy's career.

Double Trouble: West Virginia running backs Steve Slaton (144 yards) and Noel Devine (136 yards) each ran for more than 100 yards Thursday night. It marked the first time two running backs from an opposing team topped the century mark since Nov. 6, 2004 when Virginia's Alvin Pearman (170 yards) and Wali Lundy (107) did it in a 16-0 win over Maryland.
