Freshman Hilary Lawson had rounds of 76 and 75 to tie for third place overall and lead the University of Maryland to second place after two rounds of the Nittany Lion Women's Invitational golf tournament being played at Penn State's Blue Course.
Lawson's 36-hole total of 151 had her six shots off the pace being set by Susannah Aboff of Princeton, who opened with a 71 and ended Sunday with a 145 total. Laura Bavaird of Western Michigan was in second at 148.
The Terrapins opened with a 308 total as a team and shot 309 in the second round to earn second place in the team standings at 617. Princeton shot identical team rounds of 302 to earn a 604 total and lead Maryland by 13 shots heading into Monday's final round.
Penn State was in third at 621, with Western Michigan in fourth at 627.
Maryland had five players in the top-20 on the leaderboard, including seniors Kelly Calkin and Katie Trotter in a tie for 10th at 155, while newcomers Kerri Connolly and Lara Peffley were tied for 19th at 158.
Carla Wasienko, playing as an individual in the tournament, was tied for 37th at 164 after two rounds.
