Casey Named TO NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Team

Dec. 10, 2008

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior goalkeeper Mary Casey of the University of Maryland women's continues to collect postseason honors. She was recently named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Mid-Atlantic second team. Earlier this season she was named to the All-ACC first team.

After starting the first four matches of the season as a center back, Casey, a native of Centreville, Va., took over the starting keeper spot for the Terps in the fifth game of the 2008 season and immediately made an impact. She finished the season ranked sixth in the ACC with a 0.90 goals against average. Casey also finished fourth in save percentage (.800) and sixth in saves per game (3.38).

"Congratulations to Mary. She's a special person, and a special player. We're just delighted that she her talents continue to be noticed," said Terps head coach Brian Pensky.

Casey was also recently selected as the Terps' team captain for the 2009 season.

"It's no wonder that our players overwhelmingly selected Mary as team captain moving forward. She leads by example in all areas of her life. She's a terrific role model for our younger student-athletes," adds Pensky.
