Hello Everyone,
The Fall semester is coming to an end, and the Maryland water polo team is getting ready for finals, winter break, the beginning of the spring semester and the season!
We had a great Fall semester! We welcomed a new freshmen class to the team and they have worked hard in the pool, weight room and classroom!
Some of the highlights of the Fall were a Sunday morning at the Ropes course doing some team building exercises and climbing the climbing tower. Several girls who had never made it to the top, made it this year! We had breakfast at Plato's Diner one Friday morning where the sophomore, junior and senior classes paired up to "sponsor" a freshman. Those players came up with an original skit or song illuminating to the rest of the team on the virtues and positive characteristics of their freshmen. The team, coaches and waitresses enjoyed the show! The girls worked extremely hard in both the pool and weight room, but I think that Friday fun days were the favorite activity for the team. Each Friday, a team member would have a fun activity for the team during 15 minutes of practice. Activities included baseball in the pool, inner tube water polo, and various other fun games! Did I mention that the girls did work hard as well? The really did!
With the fall semester winding down, we did get a lot of water polo work done and are very excited for the spring season. We have improved every year since turning varsity and have our eyes on winning our conference championship so that we can compete for the NCAA championship that we will host in our own pool this May!
From the Maryland Water Polo program, we hope that you and your family and friends have a great holiday season!
