POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Athletics Director for Major Gifts/Senior Director of Major Gifts
REPORTS TO: Associate Athletics Director for Major Gifts
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Full-time, Contractual
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Major Gifts reports to the Associate AD for Major Gifts and is one of 13 full-time staff members in athletics development. This individual is responsible for developing key relationships with prospects and donors rated with a giving capacity of $100,000 or more. The successful candidate will have a visible role in the athletics development program, working as a member of the development team to meet or exceed the fund raising goals for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in Great Expectations: The Campaign for Maryland, the University's $1 billion fund raising effort. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will seek to raise $133 million in the campaign for facility improvement, scholarships and special projects. Responsibilities include identifying prospects; creating and implementing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies; managing a portfolio of 150-200 prospects and donors; serving as the lead staff person on various campaign components; developing supporting communications and marketing materials; and other duties as assigned. This position involves local and occasional out-of-state travel.
The
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Minimally seven years of fundraising and/or other external related experience, with a proven record of achievement. Candidate must be a skilled presenter with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Basic computer literacy is required, with experience in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Paciolan preferred.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
