
Terrapins Earn Season-High Score

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The University of Maryland gymnastics team earned its season-high score Saturday afternoon at the Jenison Field House, but fell to Michigan State, 195.925-192.925.
The Terrapins hit six-for-six routines in the first rotation on the uneven bars. In her first bars performance this season, freshman Abigail Adams led the team with a 9.700 score (sixth place). Redshirt freshman Lisa Reifschneider matched her season-best mark of a 9.650.
In the second rotation, Maryland vaulted consistently with scores ranging from 9.600 to 9.750. Sophomore Brandi George tied for sixth on the event with a 9.750. Three Terps earned their season-high scores: sophomore Candice King (9.650), senior Lindsey Bonomo (9.650) and senior Gretchen Kittelberger (9.600).
George tumbled to a tie for first place and her season-high score of a 9.825 on the floor exercise. Sophomore Michele Brenner turned in the team's second highest score, a 9.775.
In the final rotation on balance beam, George's 9.800 score was the Terps' highest mark and tied her for third on the event. Sophomore Talia Tossone scored a 9.775, tying her for sixth.
George won the all-around by totaling a 38.975. In her all-around debut, Adams notched a 38.325. Michigan State gymnasts swept the four individual events. Rhiannon Banda-Scott won vault (9.925), Emily Lopatofsky was first on bars (9.775), Nicole Curler won beam (9.900) and Katlyn Roggensack tied George on floor.
Maryland will host George Washington University on February 15 for its "Terps for a Cure" Night. The meet is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Comcast Pavilion. This night is designated to promote breast cancer awareness and raise donations for the cause. Fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing pink.
