The Terps (20-12, 3-2) jumped out to an early lead against Princeton, scoring three goals in the first three minutes of the game. With a 7-3 lead midway through the second quarter, the Terrapin offense looked unstoppable, but the Tigers changed that in a hurry.
Princeton (15-10, 3-2) scored three straight goals to begin the second half, tying the game at 8-8. Maryland took back the lead when Jordan and Elizabeth Hopkins each scored their third goal of the game.
A Sarah Hutchison goal brought Princeton back within one to start the fourth quarter, but Maryland locked down after that.
Shannon Simerly made an incredible defensive play, cutting off a Princeton breakaway that could have tied the game. Simerly then scored her second goal of the game to give the Terps a two-goal lead.
Goalie Ashleigh Jobson also made an outstanding block in the fourth period, capping off an already strong outing for her.
Facing Michigan (26-9) later in the day, Maryland made two separate comebacks to take the top-ranked team in the East into overtime.
Down, 6-2, near the end of the first half, the Terrapins scored four straight goals to tie the Wolverines, 6-6, midway through the third quarter. A pair of goals from Lauren Orth gave the lead back to Michigan.
The Terrapins were down, 9-6, entering the fourth quarter before Hopkins took the team on her back to tie the game. The junior from California scored three goals in the period to tie the game, 10-10.
After Sharayah Hernandez' third goal of the game gave Michigan a one-goal lead, Simerly scored for the Terrapins with 1:38 left in regulation to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, Maggie Eicks scored the lone goal for the Terps, her third of the game, while Michigan scored a pair in each overtime period to finish off the Terrapins.
Maryland had lost once to each team earlier in the season, 10-9, at Princeton and, 9-4, at home against Michigan.
In its first game of the day Michigan showed exactly why it is the top-ranked team in the East, blanking George Washington, 13-0. Eleven different players scored for the Wolverines, whose offense was very impressive after a scoreless first quarter.
Both Michigan and Maryland will face Bucknell (22-6, 3-1) Sunday in College Park. The Terps face the Bison in their final regular season game at 9 a.m., and the Wolverines close out their regular season against them at 3 p.m. in the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium.
