Gymnastics, Men's Swimming Earn Team GPA Awards

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The gymnastics and men's swimming and diving teams earned the President's Cup Team GPA Awards for the highest cumulative average over the past two semesters on Sunday at the 12th annual President's Cup Brunch at the Riggs Alumni Center.
The event was co-sponsored by the M Club and the Terrapin Club.
University President Dr. C.D. Mote Jr. was on hand to present the team GPA awards. Gymnastics won for the fourth straight year and the eighth time in the 12-year history of the award. The gymnastics team posted a GPA of 3.33 for the past two semesters. The men's swimming and diving team won for the second time in the history of the award, earning a 3.00 average.
The women's lacrosse team, ranked second nationally, and the Terrapins football squad earned team honors in the CHAMPS/Lifeskills Cup program. That award symbolizes the five categories emphasized by the program - academic excellence, athletic excellence, career development, personal development and community service.
