WALLACE, N.C. - Freshman Kerri Connolly shot a 37 on the front nine and finished with a 77 to lead University of Maryland players in Monday's opening round of the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational women's golf tournament.

The Terrapins were in 15th place after the first round of the 54-hole event. Darkness fell on the field with one hole remaining in the second round, so the teams will finish their second round on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. before playing the final round.

Katie Trotter had an 80 to open on Monday and tie for 51st place. Kelly Calkin had an 82 that included a 38 on the back nine to tie for 59th. Hilary Lawson shot an 83 to tie for 72nd, with Carla Wasienko in a tie for 76th after an opening-round 84.

As a team, Maryland shot a 322 in Monday's first 18 holes. Campbell led the team standings after the first 18 holes with a 296 total. The Camels held a five-shot lead over East Carolina and led by seven over UNC Greensboro. Maryland was just six shots out of the top-10 after the first 18 holes.

Belen Diaz Cisneros of Campbell and Abby Bools of East Carolina held the individual lead after the first round, each shooting even-par 72 on the River Landing Golf Course. They led by two strokes over seven other players.

There were three teams ranked in the top-50 in the 16-team field at this event.
