GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland senior Mary Beth Brown was named to the 2008 Preseason All-ACC Volleyball Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Brown was the only Terrapin named to the 18-member squad.
A fifth-year player from Vienna, Va., Brown is one of Maryland's top blocking and attacking threats. The lefty paced the Terps with 144 blocks last season, the seventh-best single-season total in program history. Brown is currently sixth in school history with 382 total blocks, four shy of fifth place.
Defending ACC champion Clemson led all schools with four players on the team. Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Virginia had two selections apiece.
In the team poll, Clemson was picked to repeat as conference champions, receiving 11 of 12 first-place votes. Georgia Tech came in second and Duke and North Carolina round out the top four.
