The University of Maryland volleyball team opens Atlantic Coast Conference play at 7 p.m. Tuesday when the Boston College Eagles come to Comcast Pavilion for the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
The match will be broadcast live on the Internet via ACC Select.
The Terrapins come into the match with a 4-8 overall record. However, Maryland won its last two matches of the Towson Invitational Saturday, defeating Lehigh and North Dakota, respectively.
Boston College is 6-6 with wins in three of its last four matches.
The Terps tied a school record in the North Dakota victory with 21 team blocks, including a match-high 12 from freshman middle blocker Lisa Scott.
Junior middle blocker Katie Usher leads Maryland with 113 kills this season with a team-high .245 hitting percentage. Usher also ranks second in blocks with 37.
Freshman Jordan Meredith is the Eagles' leading scorer with 165 kills and 14 service aces. Meredith also has 100 digs on the season.
Maryland owns a slight 4-3 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools. The Terps and Eagles split two matchups last season, with both teams holding serve at home.
Maryland head coach Tim Horsmon has dominated conference play in his previous coaching stops at Dayton and Robert Morris, posting a 93-10 combined record in nine seasons.
The doors to Comcast Pavilion will open at 6 p.m. Admission is free and the first 50 fans will receive a free Maryland Volleyball T-shirt.
