POSITION TITLE: Intern - Intensive Learning Program Academic Support & Career Development (ASCDU)
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: 2009-2010 Academic School Year May include summer of 2009 and 2010
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
RESPONSIBILITIES: This individual will assist the Director of Intensive Leaning Programs (ILP) in the Academic Support and Career Development Unit (ASCDU) of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in the following areas: working with ILP students to develop study skills, test taking strategies, and overall academic confidence; teaching a learning skills course; administering skill assessments; coordinating study sessions; designing and implementing individualized study plans for ILP students; and other duties as assigned by staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be familiar with college student development programming, implementation, and evaluation, preferably with the student-athlete population. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic with effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to respect and maintain confidentiality. Preference will be given to those candidates who can articulate and demonstrate their desire to pursue academic advising and counseling for student-athletes as a profession. Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours is required.
COMPENSATION: Bi-weekly pay, commensurate with experience.
