CLEMSON, S.C. - Junior Brittney Grove posted a season-high 12 kills and added 14 digs Saturday evening at Clemson, but the University of Maryland volleyball team was swept by the Tigers in three sets, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-17.
Maryland Sophomore Maddi Lee led all players with 15 kills, but it wasn't enough to overcome the balanced attack of Clemson (13-5, 4-3 ACC).
The Tigers were nearly twice as efficient on offense as the Terps (10-10, 2-5 ACC), outhitting Maryland .247-.133.
Sophomore Lisa Scott added five kills and five blocks for Maryland. Natalie Patzin and Lia Proctor paced the Tigers with 10 and nine kills, respectively.
After two consecutive weeks on the road, Maryland now enters a long home stretch, with eight of its next 10 matches to be played in College Park, Md.
The Terps' next match is at 5:30 p.m. Friday against Florida State. That match will be played on the main playing floor of Comcast Center as the opening act of Maryland Madness, the University's annual basketball tip-off celebration.
