Sophomore Jessica Hollandsworth paced the University of Maryland women's golf team Monday at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina, at Greenville Country Club, shooting a 6-over-par 148 over 36 holes.
The Terrapins shot 611 as a team to sit in 11th place, only three strokes shy of seventh. Maryland shot 305 in the opening round, 21 over par, and followed with a 306 in the second round.
Hollandsworth fired an even-par 71 in her first round of play and then shot a 77 in the second round. Kerri Connolly shot 153 (78-75) and Christine Shimel finished one back of Connolly, finishing at 154 with rounds of 78 and 76, respectively. Lauren Varnas rounded out Maryland's scoring at 156 with back-to-back rounds of 78. Hayley Brown finished at 157, shooting 78 and 79 for her two rounds.
East Tennessee State and Georgia State are tied for the lead at 586. Elon's Tara McFadden leads the individual standings at 139, 3 under par.
Play resumes Tuesday at 8:35 a.m.
