TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
The University of Maryland trails Florida State 14-13 at halftime, powered by an 82-yard interception return by Alex Wujciak that set up a one-yard touchdown run by Davin Meggett.
Florida State got on the board first with a nine play, 41-yard drive in the first quarter.
The Terps responded early in the second quarter with a 44-yard field goal from Nick Ferrara. The Seminoles struck quickly after the field goal as quarterback EJ Manuel pitched to Lonnie Pryor on an option play, and Pryor took it 50 yards for the touchdown and a 14-6 lead.
On Maryland's next possession, the offense got going as Jamarr Robinson hit Torrey Smith on a screen pass that went for 37 yards. Robinson threw another screen pass later in the drive to Adrian Cannon, who went for a 12-yard gain and helped set up a 39-yard field goal from Ferrara.
The turning point for the Terps came as the Seminoles were driving deep into Maryland territory. Linebacker Alex Wujciak stepped in front of a Manuel pass to make the interception, and returned it 82 yards to the Florida State seven. Just two weeks ago, Wujciak returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown.
Four plays later, Meggett plunged in from one yard out to bring the Terps within one.
Notes: Da'Rel Scott, playing in his first game since he broke his wrist against Clemson on Oct. 3, ran eight times for 24 yards in the first half ... Jamarr Robinson, in his second career start, finished the half 8-of-10 passing for 73 yards, and also ran for 23 yards ... the interception was the second of Wujciak's career.
