COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS -
Dwight Barbiasz competed at this weekend's NCAA Division I track and field indoor championships. Barbiasz remained consistent in the high jump, where he has been undefeated throughout the indoor season. Barbiasz came off of a win at the ACC Championships where he had his best jump of the season (7'2 3/4"). His previous jumps all were above the 7'0" mark and earned him first place finishes at each meet where he competed.
Barbiasz began the NCAA competition with a starting height of 6'10 1/4". He continued on and cleared 7'0 1/4". At the next progression of 7'2 1/4", Barbiasz was not able to make all of his attempts. This ended the competition and allowed Barbiasz to post a third place finish. He was tied for this position with Wright (California), Harris (Texas), Fritz (Penn State).
This was a great accomplishment for the freshman athlete who has proven to be a leader from the start of his college career. Coach Valmon and Coach Costello are looking forward to the heights that Dwight will reach this outdoor season as he comes off of this performance on the National stage.
