The Terps (9-11) took a 9-7 lead into the fourth quarter against the Seawolves, who proceeded to score three consecutive goals to finish the game. Maryland was blanked in the first half against the Wolverines, missing on many of their 6-on-5 opportunities.
"We certainly had a lot of opportunities, but we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the cage," said coach Carl Salyer. "We've got to be able to finish games."
The late loss overshadowed a four-goal effort by junior utility Shannon Simerly. Elina Goldenberg and Megan Powers both notched a pair of goals on the day, while Christine Goetsch, Blaise Stanicic, and Carly Hoshko each added a goal.
Maryland will finish their Fluid Four experience with a game against No. 18 Indiana on Sunday.
