BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -
Maryland water polo player Elina Goldenberg was named the CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The freshman scored seven goals over the weekend in the Fluid Four Tournament in Bloomington, Ind., including a career-high five in Sunday's 11-9 win over No. 18 Indiana University.
With the Terrapins holding onto a tenuous 9-8 lead, Goldenberg tallied two quick fourth-quarter goals to end any chances of a Hoosier comeback. She also scored twice in Saturday's tough 10-9 loss to Sonoma State.
The honor marks her third weekly award from the CWPA as the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., product garnered rookie of the week (Feb. 16) and player of the Week (March 2) accolades earlier this season.
Goldenberg and the Terps (10-11, 3-0) are back in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when they play host to division rival George Washington (5-17, 0-4) at the Eppley Recreation Center.
Admission is free. The game will also be streamed live on-line through ACC Select.
