POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Coach, Women's Gymnastics
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Non-tenured Faculty Contract (115039)
UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is among the most comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as the #4 "Best Place to Live" by Money Magazine. The Athletic Program has won 18 national championships over the last 15 years and is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Currently, 92 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Head Coach with the organization, development and implementation of a nationally competitive, Division I intercollegiate gymnastics program. Specific duties include: identifying and coordinating recruitment of upper level, Division I student-athletes; choreography/routine instruction and coaching; assisting with scheduling practices and meets; arranging team travel; administration of team budgets; monitoring academic progress of student-athlete. Develop and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni, media, and the general public. Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, EAGL and University rules and regulations as well as dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes are essential. Other duties may be assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two years coaching experience required, preferably at the club or collegiate level. Strong communication, organizational, administrative and computer skills needed. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in coaching all four (4) gymnastics events.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
