On Friday, May 8th the women's swim team held a lemonade stand in front of the Administration Building. This was not your average lemonade stand, as it was operated under the foundation known as Alex's Lemonade Stand, which raises money for childhood cancer research. On such a hot, sunny day, passersby couldn't wait to quench their thirst with a refreshing glass of lemonade. Many flat donations were also given to support the cause. The day was filled with some rather entertaining selling tactics. At the day's end, $331.60 was raised to aid in the efforts of researching treatments and cures for children with cancer.
The event organizer Jessalyn Crawford discussed the significance of the event. "The whole experience was very rewarding. This event was something we had never done as a team before. It was a great way to reach out to the community and get their support as well. Given the success this year, we hope to make Alex's Lemonade Stand an annual event in the future."
