POSITION VACANCY

POSITION TITLE: Head Coach, Women's Tennis

DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics

CATEGORY: Non-tenured Faculty (100125)

UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is among the most comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as the #4 "Best Place to Live" by Money Magazine. The Athletic Program has won 18 national championships over the last 15 years and is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Currently, 92 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally. The Women's Tennis program offers the NCAA maximum number of scholarships.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Organize and direct all aspects of the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis program. Specific responsibilities include identifying and recruiting athletically and academically qualified student-athletes; scheduling and conducting regular practice sessions; developing, implementing, and enforcing team rules; overseeing the administrative process for team travel, budget, student-athlete eligibility and academic progress; participating in fund raising and public relations activities; and promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Intercollegiate Athletics program that student-athletes should be successful athletically and academically. Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations as well as dedication to full academic development of student-athletes are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required or equivalent. Must have at least 3-5 years of demonstrated successful coaching experience in collegiate tennis. Must have demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Excellent and demonstrated communication skills. Good organizational skills.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
