POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: 1st Assistant Coach, Women's Basketball
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Non-tenured Faculty Contract (100096)
UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million in the context of a distinguished academic University. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as the #4 "Best Place to Live" by Money Magazine. Currently, 92 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Head Coach with the organization, development and implementation of a nationally competitive, Division I women's intercollegiate basketball program. Specific duties will include assisting with scouting, recruiting, coaching, practice and game scheduling, and serving as liaison for media, marketing, alumni, and other groups/organizations. Develop and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni and the general public. Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations as well as dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Must have 3-5 years of demonstrated successful high level coaching experience. Previous college playing experience preferred. Excellent communication skills and organizational skills required.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
