
Terps Volleyball Players Excel in Classroom

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 2008-09 academic year has come to a close and the results are overwhelmingly-positive for the University of Maryland volleyball team.
Thirteen of the 15 players on the 2008 roster achieved a GPA of 3.0 or better in the spring semester and the team finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.323 in the spring. On a more impressive note, the team now owns a cumulative GPA of 3.47 for all academic work completed.
Six Terps earned semester academic honors for the spring, led by Bethany Springer, Maddi Lee, Katie Usher, Sharon Strizak, Brittney Grove and Maggie Schmelzle.
Marissa Odom, Lisa Scott, Meredith Doyle, Tedi Doucet, Christina Paul, Mary Beth Brown and Kathleen Wilson all earned a 3.0 or better.
Nine of Maryland's returnees boast a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, again led by Springer, a mechanical engineering major. Strizak and Grove also boast exemplary cumulative GPAs.
Brown graduated from the University with a second undergraduate degree, finishing her academic career with a GPA well over 3.0. Departed seniors Doyle, Doucet and Schmelzle all finished their careers with cumulative GPAs better than 3.0, as well.
