Women's Lacrosse Heavily Represented at 2009 FIL Women's World Cup

PRAGUE, Czech Republic - The University of Maryland women's lacrosse is heavily represented as the 2009 FIL Women's World Cup commences in Prague, Czech Republic June 17-27.
Team USA will battle England in one semifinal while Australia will face Canada in the other for the rights to advance to the World Cup Championship.
Below is a full rundown of the current and former Terps at the World Cup this week.
United States
Acacia Walker (2002-05) - 4g, 2a, 6sh, 2gb, 6dc, 3ct
Caitlyn McFadden (2007-pres) - 2a, 5sh, 2gb, 4dc, 1ct
The U.S. remains undefeated in World Cup play this week. Team USA dropped reigning World Cup champion Australia and defeated Ireland in quarterfinal action to advance to the semifinals, where it will face England.
Australia
Jen Adams (1998-2001) - 14g, 20a, 22sh, 5gb, 2ct
Sarah Mollison (2008-pres) - 3g, 3a, 7sh, 2gb, 3dc, 2ct

Adams was tabbed Player of the Match in the Aussies win against Canada. The reigning World Cup champions willl take on Canada in the semifinals after ousting Scotland in the quarters.

Pellizzi was named Player of the Match against South Korea after scoring five goals. Ireland was eliminated by the U.S. in quarterfinal action on Wednesday. Alex Kahoe had 11 saves and Lauren Cohen led Ireland with three goals against the U.S.
Wales
Laura Warren (2002-04) - 16g, 9a, 22sh, 4gb, 8dc, 6ct
Warren was named Player of the Match against Germany and versus Scotland. Wales fell to Canada in quarterfinal action on Wednesday and was eliminated from tournament play.
England
Laura Merrifield (2008-pres) - 8g, 1a, 13sh, 2gb, 8dc, 1ct
England topped Japan for the rights to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday. England will next face Team USA.
Canada

Dobbie was tabbed Player of the Match in the squad's win against England. Canada advanced to the semifinals after defeating Wales on Wednesday. Canada will battle Australia in a semifinal matchup.
