Maryland was well represented on the 2009 Collegiate Water Polo Association Women's Scholar-Athlete Team with 11 Terps among the 132 honorees.
Previously named the All-Academic Team, the program honors varsity and club student-athletes who have achieved grade point averages of 3.20 or higher and competed during the 2009 season.
Overall, 39 athletes were honored with Outstanding (3.71-4.00 GPA) recognition, while 52 earned Superior (3.41-3.70) and 41 were recognized with Excellent (3.20-3.40) accolades.
Maryland's Samantha Seikkula, Elina Goldenberg, Shannon Simerly, Christen Vagts and Laurel Laidlaw earned Outstanding recognition. The Terps matched Harvard for the most number of players on the team.
Carly Hoshko, Shelby Reyes and Blaise Stanicic earned spots on the Superior team, while Bryndis Klein, Ashleigh Jobson and Christine Goetsch were on the Excellent squad.
Harvard topped the team grade-point average race (3.39), followed by Washington & Jefferson College (3.36), Brown University (3.35), Indiana University (3.25), University of Maryland (3.21), Hartwick College (3.2) and George Washington University (3.11).
