
Baltz, Wujciak Voted to Preseason All-ACC Football Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Punter Travis Baltz and linebacker Alex Wujciak were among 24 players earning spots on the 2009 Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference team.
Media members attending the ACC Football Kickoff on Sunday and Monday participated in the voting which was released Wednesday by the conference office.
Baltz, a two-year starter, was a first-team All-ACC selection last season after leading the league in punting average (41.1). The junior was a consensus all-conference choice in the preseason publications and a second-team preseason All-America choice by Athlon.
Wujciak was also an All-ACC selection last season, earning second-team honors after posting 133 tackles, including double-digit stops in eight games. He ranked 13th nationally in tackles (10.2 per game) and was also a consensus preseason all-league selection by the summer publications.
Virginia Tech, the preseason choice to win the league title, had four players earn spots on the team, while North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Clemson had three apiece.
RB Jonathan Dwyer of Georgia Tech, the 2008 ACC Player of the Year, received the highest number of votes.
Maryland's Da'Rel Scott, a 2008 first-team All-ACC pick, was left off the 2009 preseason team. Clemson's C.J. Spiller was the other running back selected.
The Terps open preseason camp on Monday, Aug. 10. Freshmen are scheduled to arrive on campus on Saturday, Aug. 8 for orientation with the varsity reporting the following day.
